Situated in the heart of Milan, just 5 minutes by walk from B&B BonaparteSuites, in front of the Castello Sforzesco, Expo Gate introduces the public to Expo Milano 2015, forming a bridge between the city and the exhibition site. Since May 2014, Expo Gate has been the stage on which Milan interprets the central theme of Expo Milano 2015: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. Open to visitors and residents alike, Expo Gate offers a light-filled place to meet, learn and share ideas. Expo Gate was created by the Scandurra Studio and consists of two modular and transparent buildings with a light form, designed for minimal impact on the environment.

The street address of Expo Gate is Via Beltrami, right in the historic part of Milan, with the Sforzesco Castle to one side – the site of the Universal Exposition of 1906 – and, to the other, Via Dante , the street along which the flags of over 130 participating countries are displayed. This location is, therefore, the gateway between Milan and the Expo, in the same way as Milan has always been considered a gateway between Italy and the rest of the world.

One of the artists whose art is displayed in our Suites, Francesco Arecco, is a founding member of the ‘Resilienza Italiana Art movement’, a real motus, for the rebirth of the Italian culture.

An inclusive movement: born from 7 persons, it exists in function of meetings, dialogues, a blend of different perspectives united behind a single aim: the Italian resilience. Ilaria Bignotti and Francesco Arecco thought the Movement and works to create proposals of dialogue and collaboration between artists, culture operators and resilient individuals. They called 6 sculptors – sculpture is presence, immanence, diligence – to form the core of the Movement. Together, they drafted, discussed, signed and published the Manifesto of a movement striving to attain greatness. Not for the sake of greatness, but for the benefit of all. Because resilient people work to share a message of renewal, to create and develop an international and interdisciplinary community.
